FUNDRAISER RUNS JANUARY 24 – FEBRUARY 9 2023
Throughout my life I’ve always tried to support different causes, and as my toffee company was taking off, I found myself thinking more about how to pay it forward in surrounding communities and through local charities. My timing in this mission was fortuitous because in the fall of 2020, I was selling our toffee at a vendor expo and began chatting with a lovely woman, Jane Conboy. Jane was helping her son sell his beautiful Global Sawdust woodwork in the stall next to ours. The personal connections you make at these markets are not always limited to the customers, but can often be made with others selling their goods all around you!
A PERFECT MATCH
Jane and I hit it off very quickly, and she told me about her job as a teacher at Pascack Hills High School, along with her leadership of the school’s Teens Against Cancer (TAC) club over the last 20 years. The club, in fact, started 30 years ago and has grown from just four members to over 100 today. Jane told me about all of the different and unique ways they raise funds throughout the year, and the various cancer organizations they donate to, including Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A TREAT FOR YOUR SWEET
After speaking to Jane, I knew that I had found the perfect partnership, and we soon began planning the “Treat for your Sweet” fundraiser to coincide with Valentine’s Day, 2022. The heart shaped gift items available in our online shop couldn’t have been a better fit! The goal was for me to allocate 20% of all proceeds from purchases made in our online store to Pascack Hills’ TAC club, and in turn they would donate those funds to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
WE’VE EXPANDED OUR FUNDRAISER OFFERINGS FOR 2023
Last year’s fundraiser was such a huge success, that we decided to include custom items in the offerings this year. For a limited time only, we’ve added sweets like heart shaped cakes, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate covered cherries. Pascack Hills families that purchase will have these items available for pick up at the high school on February 13 between 3-5pm. Alternatively, these items can be special ordered and picked up at the flagship store in Ringwood, NJ. For those outside of the area who wish to participate in the fundraiser, all of our standard items in the online store are available to ship across the United States and 20% of the profit from those sales will go to TAC. Pascack families should write TAC in the notes at check-out between January 24 and February 9, 2023 if you want your order delivered to the high school on February 13. Non-Pascack families do not need to write TAC in the "notes" at check-out. Your purchase will automatically be applied to the fundraiser.
